As if it should shock anyone at this point, Jacob deGrom was once again fantastic on the mound last night, twirling six shutout innings with ten strikeouts in the Mets' opening game of a home set with San Diego. He also got the game-winning hit, a 2-run single in the 5th that followed Billy McKinney's RBI double. The only player with more extra base hits than Billy McKinney (10) through their first 13 games with the Mets is Pete Alonso (12). Jacob deGrom's 0.56 ERA is the lowest in MLB history by any pitcher through the 1st 10 starts of a season, and he becomes only the 9th pitcher in MLB history to strike out at least 100 hitters in that window. Jacob deGrom hasn't allowed more than 1 ER in any of his 10 starts this season, the longest streak by any pitcher since Bob Gibson's 11 in 1968. deGrom is the first pitcher to have more RBI than ER allowed through the 1st 10 starts of a season. In 193 career starts, Jacob deGrom has allowed one or no runs 94 times.
