Burger King dug itself a hole on International Women's Day. The fast-food chain thought it was the best day to post a (now deleted) tweet saying that "Women belong in the kitchen." A follow-up post explained that only 20% of women are chefs, and Burger King will be starting a scholarship program designed to "help female Burger King employees pursue their culinary dreams". However, the use of a misogynist joke on a day celebrating women left many Twitter users highly unimpressed, as gender stereotypes are still rampant in 2021 and far from being able to be joked about.
