Metroid Dread is finally a Metroidvania game again

We're getting the first 2D Metroid game since Samus Returns in 2017 in the form of the newly-announced Metroid Dread. Given that Samus Returns is a remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus, this actually makes the first original 2D Metroid since 2002's Metroid Fusion. It's no Metroid Prime 4, a game that still doesn't have a release date, but we're still very excited for the release of this title.
