Aug 26 (Reuters) - U.S. biotech Gilead Sciences Inc (GILD.O) escaped a $1.2 billion penalty after a U.S. appeals court on Thursday found that relevant parts of a patent on a cancer therapy owned by a Bristol Myers Squibb (BMY.N) unit that were the basis for a previous ruling and fine were invalid.
